As a Creative Arts Therapist, I work toward fostering an atmosphere of relaxation while inspiring communication through creativity. I (have) work(ed) within numerous settings and populations, including Monmouth Medical Center’s Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital, servicing children and adults, MMC’s Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder Outreach Program, Bristol Myers-Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson, New Brunswick, and The PALS program at the YWCA Union County servicing victims of domestic violence. Working within these populations allows me to engage with the patient, the couple, and the whole family system for a comprehensive therapeutic approach.
I, Alison Silver, MPS, LPAT, ATR-BC, CFTP, PMH, am a client-centered clinician who approaches individual needs uniquely. I integrate the creative mind and traditional psychotherapy to establish and solidify your identity, ground and focus your thought process, and learn new and exciting ways to integrate yourself into your identity as an individual, a couple, or a family unit. I encourage my clients to become active partners in lieu of passive clients.
I hold a Master of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creativity Development from Pratt Institute and attained my ATR-BC (Board Certified Registered Art Therapist) from the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board). I am licensed in the state of New Jersey, and I have accrued training and certifications as a Certified Family Trauma Professional, Sand Play, Domestic Violence, Perinatal/Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Mental Health Professional, and Trauma Therapist.
