Shari-ann H. James, PhD, PMH-C, is a licensed psychologist and certified perinatal mental health professional with over 20 years of experience. Her practice focuses on women and birthing individuals, with a special emphasis on reproductive and perinatal mental health, particularly addressing the challenges of transitioning to motherhood/parenthood. She specializes in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility, perinatal loss, trauma, pregnancy, and childbirth.
Dr. James is also experienced in third-party reproduction, providing psychological evaluations for surrogates, gestational carriers, and egg donors, as well as consultations for intended parents utilizing egg, embryo, or sperm donors.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. James offers consultations and training on perinatal mental health in her local community and presents nationally at conferences on emotional complications during the perinatal period. She is the co-founder and president of the Central Florida Postpartum Alliance and hosts The Wellness Pod podcast, which centers on reproductive and maternal mental health and women’s wellness. Dr. James also established the Perinatal Wellness Academy, offering resources for both providers and birthing individuals.
